Oxford VDL was born and raised at VDL Stud and comes from one of the Van de Lageweg family's most successful dam lines.

Oxford's dam, Be Helena VDL, scored 90 points as a 3-year-old mare, became Friesland Champion and took fourth place at the KWPN National Mare Show in Ermelo. She also produced Freeman VDL, the winning stallion at the KWPN Stallion Licensing, and Goldcoast VDL, who is successful at 1.60m level with his rider Matas Petraitis.

The granddam Helena was European Champion of 3-year-old mares in Brussels and has produced four offspring that are successful in international show jumping. These include Southwind VDL, who is placed at 1.60m level, and Anderson VDL, who competes at 1.50m level. She is also the granddam of the extremely successful Celena VDL, who was victorious at 1.60 m level with Marlon Zanotelli and Harrie Smolders.

HIPPOMUNDO BLACK TYPE PEDIGREE

Oxford VDL is a son of the Grand Prix stallion Untouched. This stallion, who died far too early, jumped at Grand Prix level under Ben Maher and is descended from the former Olympic champion Classic Touch, who triumphed in Barcelona in 1992 under Ludger Beerbaum. Untouched himself impressed with his fantastic jumping and athletic abilities - characteristics that he also passes on to his offspring.

The double Olympic stallion Chin Chin strengthens Oxford VDL's pedigree, as does the preferentially awarded stallion Ahorn and the influential Silvano.

At the KWPN licensing in Ermelo and the subsequent stallion performance test, Oxford VDL was described by the licensing committee as follows:

"A stallion from a renowned mare line that is known for its excellent jumping and rideability qualities. The combination of his physique and lineage makes him a promising stallion for breeding."

Oxford VDL is a very typical stallion who, despite his size, looks modern, with a beautiful head and large eyes. The basic gaits are very elastic, with the expansive, uphill canter with a lot of carrying power being particularly noteworthy. At the jump, he shows almost limitless ability, a lot of imprint and good reflexes.
