BREEDER
Fam. R. Witt,
As one of the most successful Holsteiner stallions in the sport today, Cartello VDL, the Olympic horse of Darragh Kenny, boasts an impressive record of achievements. He has triumphed in the 5* Grand Prix in Monterrey and has secured top placements in Nations Cups held in Dublin, Vancouver, Barcelona, La Baule, and Wellington, as well as in numerous stages of the Longines Global Champions Tour, among many other successes.
Cartello's older brother, Cardento, sired by Capitol I, is a prominent figure in international breeding. The gray stallion has contributed to the fame of the mare line 741, producing countless successful 1.60m sport horses, including notable stallions such as Colore by Contender (Hans-Dieter Dreher), Colorit by Coriano (Christian Ahlmann), and Quadros by Quidam de Revel (Marco Kutscher).
Cartello's sire, Cartani, a son of Carthago, competed at the highest levels with Charlotte von Rönne. His dam, Taggi, was an exceptional mare, ridden by Sören von Rönne, with whom she won individual bronze and team gold at the 1994 World Equestrian Games in The Hague. Cartello's grandfather, Lord, is recognized as one of the foundation sires of modern sport horse breeding, while his great-grandfather, Sacramento Song xx, was one of the most influential thoroughbred stallions in warmblood breeding.
