Terms and Conditions

By requesting the insemination of a mare, the breeder agrees to the following terms and conditions:
The breeding and insemination regulations of the respective breeding association apply. The breeding season runs from February 3rd to August 1st, 2025.

As an EU-approved insemination station, we provide fresh semen from our stallions upon request. Shipping costs will be invoiced separately, including fees incurred for semen shipments from other stations. Weekend deliveries are available by prior arrangement and may incur higher freight costs, which must be confirmed individually. Shipping containers must be returned immediately with sufficient postage; otherwise, they will be invoiced. For international shipments, additional official fees apply and will be charged separately. Costs for semen shipments from our international partner stations are higher and subject to additional official fees. Specific terms can be obtained from our station staff.

By ordering semen, you accept our breeding and liability conditions.

Semen Ordering Process: Semen orders must be placed by 9:00 AM on the shipping day via:

  • Phone: +49 (0)5823 - 95 55 20 or +49 1733910917
  • Email: samenbestellung@hengststation-voelz.de
  • Online form

The following details are required:

  • Desired stallion
  • Mare owner’s name, address, and phone number
  • Mare’s name, registration number, birth date, color, and pedigree
  • Breeding association details and membership number
  • Alternative delivery address, if applicable
  • Name and address of the inseminating veterinarian or technician

Payment Terms: Upon ordering, Stud Fee I (insemination fee) is due. Stud Fee II is payable upon confirmed pregnancy (by August 15th, 2025). For international orders, the full stud fee (Stud Fee I + II) must be paid before the first semen shipment. If the mare is not pregnant, Stud Fee II will be credited.

Liability and Transport: Delayed deliveries must be reported immediately; otherwise, freight costs will be charged. Liability for transport damage is excluded.

Embryo Transfer: The breeder must declare any intended embryo transfer before the first insemination and provide the recipient mare’s details. Successful embryo flushing must be reported immediately, including the transfer date. A stud fee is required for each flushed embryo.

Prohibited Practices:

  • Splitting, sharing, reselling, or distributing semen portions and straws is strictly prohibited. Violations incur a financial penalty in addition to the stud fee.

  • Frozen semen (TG semen) is billed per insemination dose or straw. Splitting or reselling TG semen is prohibited without prior written consent.

  • The use of TG semen for ICSI procedures requires written approval from Hengststation Völz.

Availability of Stallions: If a stallion becomes unavailable during the breeding season, there is no entitlement to a refund. However, the paid stud fee may be transferred to another stallion. If a stallion moves to a partner station, semen will be shipped from there, and the station’s terms still apply. The first semen delivery is considered binding. Stud Fee I is due immediately upon the first semen shipment and must be paid within 14 days. The stallion station reserves the right to limit semen delivery to one portion per estrus cycle at its discretion.

Breeding Certificates and DNA Verification: A veterinary certificate of non-pregnancy must be submitted by August 15th, 2025. A DNA verification fee of €7.00 plus VAT will be charged per covered/inseminated mare.

After the breeding season, a breeding certificate will be issued upon full settlement of all costs and return of required documents. Breeding certificates must be submitted at the start of the breeding season. Without a breeding certificate, the coverage cannot be reported. Certificates submitted after August 1st, 2025, incur a processing fee of €30.00 plus VAT.

Registration and Performance Testing: Young stallions in their first breeding season are only fully registered in Studbook I after completing the performance test. Full foal registration is only possible once this requirement is met. Breeding before the stallion's full performance test is undertaken at the breeder’s risk.

While Hengststation Völz makes every effort to ensure the necessary performance records, this cannot be guaranteed. If a stallion fails to qualify for Studbook I, only birth notifications can be issued.

Stallions marked with an * are not yet fully registered in Studbook I.

Discounts and Special Agreements: Discounts for multiple or special mares (e.g., S-level competition success, licensed sons) are available upon individual agreement.
