Esmeraldo, the son of the highly successful international sire Emerald van’t Ruytershof out of a dam by Caretino/Lord/Landgraf, catches the eye not only with his exceptional markings. Described by Staphan Haarhoff, the Holsteiner breeding director, as an exceptionally typey young stallion with an impressive topline connection and outstanding quality over fences, this exceptional young stallion is truly remarkable.
His sire, Emerald van’t Ruytershof, won numerous Grands Prix under Harrie Smolders, finished second in the World Cup Final in Gothenburg, and competed at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. His offspring are following in his footsteps and are already achieving success at championships and five-star shows.
The maternal grandsire, Caretino, was internationally successful under Bo Kristoffersen and is considered one of the greatest sires in Holsteiner breeding. His blood is synonymous with willingness to perform and exceptional rideability.
The legendary sires Lord and Landgraf complete this outstanding pedigree.
Holsteiner Stamm 4847 is carefully preserved by the Meyer family. Among its notable representatives are the stallion Cachas and the internationally successful sport horses Cellagon Corray, Cornela, Conga LS, Quintender LS, and Chacon LS.
Esmeraldo received top marks not only for his jumping ability at his licensing, but also stood out clearly and positively in his movement and breed type.
Under saddle, he confirmed his exceptional talent. As the outstanding winner, he completed his performance test with an overall score of 8.93. The judging commission awarded him a score of 9.0 or higher in four categories. His canter was awarded a 9.0, rideability a 9.2, and both jumping ability and willingness to perform received a score of 9.3.
At the age of four, he confirmed this performance in his sport test. The judges awarded him an 8.8 for rideability, an 8.5 each for canter and jumping ability, and an 8.6 for overall impression.

Esmeraldo’s first foal crops have fulfilled every expectation. With a very broad mare base, he consistently stamps his offspring with his own qualities. Correct, with harmonious lines, a good topline connection, a highly modern type, and a touch of colour, his offspring have impressed as champions at foal shows and as top-priced auction lots throughout Europe.
His first crop of licensed sons has already produced several licensed stallions, including the Reserve Champion at the 2026 Czech Warmblood Licensing.
