BREEDER
VDL Stud,
With Chicago Blue, we are delighted to offer our breeders a stallion with an absolutely exceptional pedigree.
Chacco Blue, already a legend, made his mark in the sport with a third-place finish in the Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen. The son of Chambertin, who died far too young, is now immortalising his legacy as one of the leading show-jumping sires in the WBFSH rankings.
His dam, Cella, topped the WBFSH ranking of the world’s most successful show jumpers in 2013. In addition to the numerous Grands Prix that Cella won under Ben Maher, winning the title of Vice European Champion was one of the outstanding achievements of this partnership. Her victory in the Prize of Europe in Aachen was another highlight of her career. Ben Maher describes his Cella as “a true fighter who, when in a good mood, was impossible to beat.”
The maternal grandsire, Dobel’s Cento by Capitol I, is one of the most famous heroes of German show jumping. Under Otto Becker, he won the 2000 Grand Prix of Aachen and became both European Champion and Olympic Champion with the German team.
Chicago Blue’s granddam is also a legend: Usha van’t Roosakker. Successful with Marlon Modolo Zanotelli in 1.50 m classes, the mare is the foundation mare of the highly sought-after “Roosakker” family, renowned worldwide.
The maternal great-grandsire is the Holsteiner stallion Chin Chin. He competed at the Olympic Games in Seoul, where he finished fifth in the individual final. Today, the stallion is particularly renowned as the maternal grandsire of numerous highly successful show jumpers.
Chicago Blue is a large-framed stallion, uphill in his conformation, with a strong topline and correct limbs.
From his very first appearances in competition, he consistently impressed with top placings. Always rideable in the arena, with tremendous scope and power, as well as exceptional carefulness, he impresses under saddle over fences.
Still youthful and big in stature, Chicago Blue combines a high willingness to perform, a very good temperament, and the essential touch of blood in his daily work.
His first foal crops have stood out for their exceptionally long-legged, typey, and athletic foals. Despite their considerable size, they present a modern and light-framed type.
